Clarance A. Adams  and his wife, Cynthia Nelson

Clarance A. Adams5 (William1, Robert2, Daniel3 Rose Ann4) was born in November 1862 in Morgan County, Indiana.  His date and place of death have not been determined at this time.  At the age of 30, he married Miss Cynthia Nelson, daughter of Nicholas and Millie Nelson neé Bryon [sic] in Red Willow County, Nebraska on 21 June 1893.  The marriage record shows Cynthia's place of birth as Missouri.  Clarance was born in Indiana before his parents migrated west to Harrison County, Missouri.  This must have been quite an adventure for a boy of 10-12 years of age.  We don't know if they went in a wagon caravan or by train, but we do know that the Adams, Reeves and Mary Cox with her children left Morgan County to live in Harrison County, which is in the northern part of Missouri.

In less than 10 years, Clarance left the Missouri home to live in Red Willow County, Nebraska.  The records indicate that his mother purchased public lands in Red Willow County.  In 1890, William signed a Quit Claim deed to transfer his 1/7th share of the homestead to Clarance.

By 1910 Clarance and Cynthia Adams and their four children moved to the northwestern part of the country, settling in Woodburn City, Marion County, Oregon where he Clarance owned and operated a harness shop.  Their sons, James N. and Harvey helped with the family farm.
